Cat Pictures

Back in July of 2021 I found a number of bones scattered in the ditch near my family’s farmhouse. I decided that I wanted to collect them and investigate. What animal was it? How did it die? I figured it was either a cat or a raccoon, and I was right. It was a cat’s skeleton and its hip bone was shattered which meant it was probably hit by a car in the road.

I wanted to use the skeleton to learn a bit more about cats. I sketched the skull from different angles, as well as painting it. But I wasn’t satisfied with that: I decided that I wanted to reconstruct the spine. To bring the bones back together. Some online research about cats’ spines helped allow me to accurately reconstruct it with a hot glue gun and a wire armerature.

Pictures 2 and 5 are of the reconstructed spine, pictures 1,3,4 and 6 are the sketches and finally a painting I did of the different angles of the skull.
